Long before learning management systems (LMS) became popular, educators have been instinctively using Facebook to perform such functions. Facebook allows professor to share materials, post announcements, and connect to students. Though not primarily designed to be an education platform/site, Facebook aids in integrating content, coordination, and communication functions necessary in teaching and learning.

HOW TO USE FACEBOOK AS A LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING SOCIAL LEARNING

 

  1. Create a GROUP
  2. Add students by either inviting them or adding them in your group
  3. Customize your group in order for you to ORGANIZE your content in modules
    • Change the group TYPE as Social Learning.
    • Create GUIDES to organize your content (serves as modules)
  4. Organize and Post Content
    • In the GUIDES tab, add a guide. This will serve as your "module" units
    • POST your content, file, link, under the specific units.
    • You may also create a QUIZ
      1. In the post, click CREATE QUIZ
      2. Add your questions, correct answers, and responses
      3. In retrieving the records of your quiz, click the three-dot button and click DOWNLOAD QUIZ RESULTS
  5. Monitor your student's activities in GROUP INSIGHTS
