UPLB CATL Participates in DLSMHSI’s EdTech Day

Representatives from the UPLB Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) attended the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute’s (DLSMHSI) 5th Edtech Day held at De La Salle Cavite’s Animo Center on 16-17 October 2023.

With the theme: Shaping the Future of eLearning During the Rise of Artificial Intelligence”, the two-day event, organized by the Center for Innovative Education and Technology Integration (CIETI), was highlighted by engaging discussions and presentations by pioneering experts in eLearning at the plenary sessions. Guest speakers included UP Open University Chancellor Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria, CHED Regional Office IV Director Dr. Virginia D. Akiate, DLSMHSI Chancellor Dr. Ferdinand L. Berba, Asian Institute of Management’s Prof. Richard Anthony Cruz, DLSU Academic Support for Instructional Services and Technology Director Michael Manguerra, and DLSMHSI Faculty Member Br. Fernando I. Sanding.

Several national and international industry technology and education advocates joined the event and presented their insights on how their respective companies can help bolster the country’s eLearning efforts. Representatives from industry giants such as PowerMac Center, Nephila Web Technology, Inc., Microsmith Technology Systems, Inc., and ERL Technology Solutions, among others, shared their thoughts on how educators can take advantage of the opportunities provided by the fast-paced advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), while also navigating the pitfalls and problems that it can create.

Each company also offered visitors more engaging presentations via product showcases, demonstrations, and games in their respective booths at the exhibition areas. To help pique the participants’ interest, they also provided sample products and service subscriptions that were raffled out as prizes throughout the plenary sessions.
