The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning successfully implemented the first segment of its Learning Object (LO) Development Training on 15 April 2024. This training-workshop aimed to develop the skills and capabilities of the UPLB academic staff in the design and production of learning objects and other related interactive learning materials.

CATL Director Dr. Edmund G. Centeno opened the program by providing the participants with the training objectives and expected outcomes. He also shared his insights in LO development. After this, Ms. Beverly R. Pabro discussed the University’s LO grant proposal, highlighting the requirements that the faculty need to accomplish to successfully apply for the grant. This was followed by discussions and workshops on LO development process and storyboard creation, led by Dr. Centeno, and the production techniques, facilitated by Mr. Joel Anthony Cardenas. The day’s sessions concluded with the participants presenting their planned LO topics.

The second phase of the training will be conducted on 29 April 2024. Additional topics on the production of LOs and visual design will be covered to further hone the participants’ skills.
