UPLB CATL Staff Delves into the Future of Education at "Connected Manila"

Staff members from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) participated in the Philippine eLearning Society’s (PeLS) General Assembly and “Connected Manila” by Open LMS at Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), Manila, on March 18, 2024. The event, which focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, brought together educators, industry leaders and technology experts to discuss the role of AI in the dynamics of of teaching and learning.

Ms. Beverly R. Pabro, CATL’s University Extension Specialist, also currenly serving as PeLS Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Mr. Joel Anthony Cardenas, Jr. Design Specialist, and Mr. Leonilo Torio, Administrative Assistant, represented CATL in the said event. They actively engaged in sessions exploring how AI can be used to personalize learning experiences, provide targeted support to students, and improve assessment practices. They also participated in workshops showcasing practical applications of AI in the classroom, such as intelligent tutoring systems and automated feedback mechanisms.

The event provided valuable insights into the potential of AI to enhance teaching and learning. UPLB CATL is now poised to explore ways to integrate these emerging technologies into their own trainings and professional development programs. By harnessing the power of AI, UPLB can play a key role in further shaping the future of the education landscape in the Philippines.
